Paddington's visit to the Junior

The smallest admirer of Paddington enjoying the visit when the children at Cheltenham College Junior School brought their bears to school to meet Paddington. The children assisted with Action Medical Research, "Touching Tiny Lives" and enjoyed a picnic with Paddington.

There was great excitement when Paddington appeared in their assembly hall the atmosphere went from a quiet academic hush to bedlam when Paddington's assistant invited the children to shout Paddington's name to bring him out of his den.

Everyone had brought with them their favourite bear and some had brought other soft toys as well. The Headmaster, Mr Morris had his very old and worn bear with him as well.

When the children were asked to name some famous bears, they included Paddington, of course, Pooh Bear and the very famous explorer Bear Grylls. Now that was lateral thinking.

Is it Difficult to Be Healthy

As the Nation appears to be taking part in less exercise, eat more, eat the wrong foods and make life more unpleasant. So what do we do about it, and what should we do? I know some of you will already have switched off thinking I am going to be talking about gyms and the super fit.

Well actually the sports people and the super fit already look after themselves so it is for the others who think it is too difficult. The easiest and most cost effective method is to walk. It can be very pleasant, walking with friends and family in the fresh air and no cost.

Walking in the great outdoors is the most calming satisfying experience and you do not have to walk very far. Take a flask or plan a route to take in a cafe and enjoy.

There are lots of opportunities to walk in a variety of locations. Live in a big City so it may be more difficult then look to venture into the country with some friends and the world will expand before you.

For a wider variety of walking look at combining walking with learning to use a map and compass or a GPS. Where can you go for that you can either contact us via the web page or go to http://www.gpstraining.co.uk/ for more information

Global Corporate Challenge

The words from the GCC Website are as follows and they make very good healthy sense.

Having vibrant, motivated, and healthy staff, has never been more critical than now and the Global Corporate Challenge® (GCC) can make it happen. As the world's largest and most exciting corporate health initiative, the GCC is specifically for the workplace and addresses the emerging health crisis resulting from the triple threat – longer workdays, sedentary occupations and little or no exercise.

As you'll discover, the GCC is a program with proven results that increases staff fitness, promotes teamwork, fosters a positive, competitive spirit, and supports the workforce to be active, healthy, and more productive. Most importantly, it's fun and great for staff morale.
Participants record their daily walking activity levels from their GCC pedometer and every step moves them further along a virtual walk around the world.

With a daily target of 10,000 steps and a journey that provides reward for effort, participants and their teams have a great time while maintaining the long-term commitment and motivation needed to bring about positive, habitual change. Enjoy!

Health Surveillance and Occupational Health

Why is Healthcare RM different to the other OH Providers? We look at total health and not just a spotlight on the particular task. For example when conducting a simple hearing test recently our OH nurse in discussion with the employee found out that he had several abnormal symtoms which was nothing to do with the hearing test being conducted.

The outset of this was that our OH Nurse identified that the employee may have the onset of diabetes. She advised the employee to go to his GP and his response was as follows "Thanks for getting me to go to my GP you were right in what you said and as a result I am now on medication to deal with the early stages of my Diabetes. The other Company we had used would never have spotted it, thanks again".

So at Healthcare RM we deal with every aspect of employee health and this is a good idicator of the importance of a good service.

Healthcare RM Team Walk Around the World

Healthcare RM employees plan to walk round the World. Steve Blow, the Team Captain and his team, Anna Richardson, Becki Rogers, Miriam Barcham, Anita Ross, Tina Otto and Angela Gardner all started the walk today. This is done via GCC or Global Corporate Challenge.

This is a very good venture and you can see more on http://www.gettheworldmoving.com/ and again it shows that HRM as a healthcare Company has a great bunch of staff who are interested in health and well being.
